… is the author of seven full-length poetry collections. Her most recent book, Confessions of a Barefaced Woman (Red Hen Press, 2018), was a finalist for the NAACP Image Awards. Her other books include: What Keeps Us Here (Ampersand Press), Soul Train (Carnegie Mellon University Press), In Every Seam (University of Pittsburgh Press), and Voice (Mayapple Press). She lives in Carbondale, Illinois, where she directs the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Southern Illinois University.

Originally from Brasilia, she lives in Chicago.
